From Story to Design

I love stories, so when I design I always have a story in mind. When my nephew was a baby I was inspired to create an undersea fantasy world depicting happy sea animals. "Ocean Adventure was the result, showing angel fish, seahorses and fantasy fish frolicking in a bright sea.

The story behind “Dragon Playground” is literally based on a book I created for my nephew. I was making personalized private books for the kids in my family based on their favorite animals. My nephew's favorite animals were a shark, a lion, and a dragon (a pretend animal, of course, but I went with it). I wrote the book featuring his animals in a forest and castle scene Imagine a story featuring dragons, a shark, and a lion.

The story remained in my head and a dragon playground popped into my mind. I thought the idea was funny, so I created the baby dragon figures to accompany the adult dragon figures that were featured in my nephew's book (they are slightly different from the book) and built them a playground. Silly idea, I know, but I had to try it because it made me laugh.
